  • Rotary is the oldest service organisation in the world, established in 1905 in Chicago.
  • The objective of Rotary International, a worldwide association of Rotary clubs, is to provide service to others, to promote high ethical standards, and to advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through its fellowship of business, professional, and community leaders.

 Rotary has a membership of 1.2 million in 32,000 clubs spread over 168 countries.

Rotary in the UK

  • There are almost 57,000 Rotary members in Great Britain & Ireland.
  • These are members of 1,838 Rotary clubs, which make up RIB1 (Rotary International in Britain & Ireland).
  • RIBI is administered under its own constitution within that of Rotary International.
  • The RIBI headquarters are at Alcester in Warwickshire, where a professional Secretariat acts as a focal point and administrative centre for Rotary activities.
  • The clubs in RIBI are formed into 29 Districts.
  • Wolverhampton’s clubs are among the 59 clubs which comprise Distict 1210, which includes most of Staffordshire, Shropshire and part of the West Midlands.
